In Dave's own words...

'Wile' is a 1996 registered 5sp 1700 Supersprint in white with Clams. He has a custom dark blue interior and matching 'double duck' tonneau and hood. I am the third owner and the car has covered just on 8000 miles since new. He is my third Caterham over a 15 year period (previously having a Red/Ally 1700 SS and then a 1.4k both with clams - both sold to finance house or kid or wife…..). I missed the 'burp and fart of the xflow' and a few years on I was able to purchase another Caterham.

I bought Wile off Ebay in September 2005 from a fellow petrol head (who also owned an Elan Sprint, a V8 Esprit and HPC Caterham). He sold Wile because he wanted a 'track monster' (hence the HPC) and felt that Wile was too 'pretty/unmolested' to track.

The car is all-original apart from some small aesthetic mods (tripod mirrors in chrome, fire extinguisher, some Prisoner alloys currently coming to Toulouse via GONADS…) but I intend to carefully modify Wile to suit my tastes as finance allows. Initially this will include widetrack suspension, upgraded brakes and exhaust. The engine will receive a 'power boost' to around 150/160 bhp one day but only when I have mastered driving the car on this engine/chassis. I still have much to learn!

Why 'Wile'? A nickname from school (after Wile E Coyote in the Roadrunner cartoons - my favourite luckless cartoon character!). Despite what Davis says from Blatchat - it's pronounced 'WhyLee' and not…….I thank you.
